Visas have facilitated seamless travel between countries for decades. And it is a practice that continues to this very day. But the process is not always the same for everyone, and the required forms, applications, and permits can differ significantly from country to country.

Here in the UAE, citizens of all countries outside of the GCC region require a visa. If you intend to live and work here, you will need a residency visa. If you are just here on holiday or temporarily, you will require a tourist visa.
The process of obtaining a tourist visa will depend largely on your nationality. Citizens of some countries are eligible for visas on arrival while others must arrange their visa in advance. However, with millions of applications processed every year, you can be sure of a fast and smooth process in any case.
That said, to ensure that you understand the eligibility requirements and correct process before entering the country, it is a good idea to seek out the advice of a UAE expert such as Set Hub. If you are required to submit a visa application, we can manage the process for you, ensuring a fast and smooth service.
Dubai Tourist Visa Rules
Citizens from many countries are permitted to travel to the UAE without making a visa application. In this instance, travelers simply pass through immigration where their passport is stamped with an entry visa, usually valid for 30 days. This includes passport holders of the following countries:
- Andorra
- Australia
- Brunei
- Canada
- China
- Japan
- Kazakhstan
- Malaysia
- Mauritius
- Monaco
- New Zealand
- Republic of Ireland
- San Marino
- Singapore
- Ukraine
- United Kingdom and Northern Ireland
- USA
Passport holders from most other countries are required to arrange a visa before making the trip to the UAE. There are two common options available:
- 30 or 90 day visas allow the holder to enter and stay in the UAE for a period of either 30 or 90 days.
- Multiple entry visas allow the holder to enter and stay in UAE multiple times over a five-year period, remaining in the country for up to 90 days on each visit.
All types of visit and tourist visas can be extended for 30 days twice, subject to approval by the relevant immigration authority.
You can apply for this extension without having to leave the UAE. Renewals must be made before the expiry of your current visa and cost AED 600 each time.
Overstaying your visa will result in an AED 100 fine for every day that you overstay, starting from ten days after the expiry of your visa.
